I’m Sarah, the florist aka flower fanatic behind The Petal Emporium. For me flowers are so much more than just flowers. They are many of my first and fondest memories. Picking little bunches of wild flowers on my way home from school for my mum. Spending hours in the garden with my grandad on weekends with oversized gloves and mud on my knees. Having grown up in North Somerset, I’m now lucky enough to call Brockley the home to The Petal Emporium floral studio. As a result, when I’m not playing with flowers you’ll find me at Brockley Stores, tucking into a big slab of their delicious tiffin!
Eco-friendly florist
I’m passionate about seasonal and natural arrangements. I use only the highest quality flowers and foliage alongside sustainable techniques. I’m very conscious on the impact of floristry on the planet so I avoid single use plastics wherever possible. I’m committed no floral foam (you might know it better as oasis, a toxic single use plastic) instead opting for reusable, recyclable or compostable options. I source my materials from carefully picked suppliers, as well as local farms and growers where seasons allow to bring naturally elegant garden inspired florals to weddings, events and gifts throughout the south west. I love to grow my own where I can too, and I have big ambitions to expand my growing space in the coming years to minimise the miles the blooms take to get to you.
My arrangements take inspiration from overflowing cottage gardens. Wild, charming, and naturally elegant. My aim is always to tell stories with flowers, capturing treasured memories, favourite scents or maybe the colours of a holiday, all to bring back fond memories and to become a part of new ones.
Christmas Wreath and Centrepiece Workshops
I am very excited to be running several workshops at Brockley Stores over December and I would love for you to join me! You can join me in making your own gorgeous wreath. I will guide you through the process of mossing a base and adorning it with gorgeous winter foliage, then finishing with cones, dried fruits and ribbons. Ready to dress your front door beautifully for the festive season.
You can also come along to my Foam Free Christmas Centrepiece workshop. You will be guided through making a centrepiece to adorn your table for your Christmas dinner without the use of floral foam. Using an array of gorgeous materials, you can fill your piece with traditional elements or go wild with something a bit quirky.
